Pegasus Prize: An annual $50,000 social innovation grant awarded to nonprofit organizations implementing innovative approaches to address community challenges. This prize supports projects that are data-driven, cost-effective, and lead to improved outcomes for Dallas County residents.
Mary M. Jalonick Women’s Philanthropy Institute: This initiative is designed to educate, inspire, and empower women to become confident and engaged donors. It connects them with community needs and encourages strategic, impactful giving throughout their philanthropic journey.
Family Philanthropy Services: This program assists families in navigating their philanthropic goals. It provides guidance on how, when, and where to give, supporting thoughtful and meaningful charitable decisions across generations.
Scholarship Funds: The Foundation manages several scholarship programs that support students pursuing higher education. Each program has specific eligibility criteria, and collectively, they have provided over $1 million annually in scholarships to hundreds of students.
Grant Opportunities: The Foundation offers competitive grant cycles throughout the year, focusing on early childhood development, economic resilience, and other pressing needs in Dallas County. These grants are aimed at nonprofits delivering impactful solutions within the community.
History shows that 19% of their giving goes to Social & Human services, almost 15% goes to Community Development and 8% goes to Arts & Culture category.
Grants in recent years include:
$541,500 for CitySquare;
$406,000 for Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support;
$383,150 for Interfaith Family Services;
$472,000 for Child Poverty Action Lab;
$387,500 for Play Equity Fund;
$323,289 for Perot Museum of Nature and Science; and
$130,000 for Santa Fe Opera.
To be eligible for a grant, an organization must be a tax-exempt, nonprofit agency serving a variety of charitable purposes. All competitively awarded grants from the Foundation are designated for agencies that serve Dallas County. Agencies located outside of Dallas County may qualify for a competitive grant only if more than 50 percent of their clients are Dallas County residents.
Funding is not available for:
Organizations that have received grants from our Field of Interest Funds or Community Impact Funds within the past three years
Multi-year grants
Annual fund campaigns, fundraising event underwriting, or marketing campaigns
Religious purposes (though educational and social service programs offered by faith-based organizations may be considered)
Programs or services that do not serve Dallas County residents (unless otherwise specified)
