The mission of The Needmor Fund is to work with others to bring about social justice. It supports groups that work together to change the social, economic, or political conditions that bar access to participation in a democratic society. Needmor has identified grassroots community organizing as the most effective process by which low- and moderate-income people can build power, address the systemic barriers to the practice of democracy, hold public and corporate officials accountable for their actions, and begin to participate in shaping public policy. Its grantmaking is focused exclusively on providing support for multi-issue, democratically controlled, membership-based community organizations.
