Procedure:
A letter of inquiry must first be submitted initially, followed by a full proposal if requested by the Foundation. A selections committee will review letters of inquiry and decide whether or not to ask for a full proposal.
The letter of inquiry should be no more than two pages, written on organization letterhead, signed by an executive of the organization, and sent in writing by mail. The following information should be included in the inquiry:
A brief description of who the applicant organization is and what the applicant does
A brief description of the project, if the request is for project-based support
The budget for the project, or the organization’s overall budget if the request is for general support
The applicant’s website address, if one is available
A contact name, full street address, telephone number, and email address
Canada Revenue Agency charitable number
The applicant’s legal name
If asked for a full proposal, please include the following information within:
Description of the organization
Description of the project/proposal
Budget and other proposed sources of financing
Duration of the project
A list of references independent of the organization
Previous contacts with The McLean Foundation, if any
Copies of the most recent financial statements and annual reports of the organization
Letters of inquiry are reviewed on an ongoing basis, full proposals must be invited by the foundation.
