COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The foundation supports programs designed to promote community development. Special emphasis is directed toward programs designed to promote affordable housing for low and moderate income individuals; services targeting low and moderate income individuals; activities that revitalize or stabilize low and moderate income geographies; and activities that foster economic development.

EMPLOYEE MATCHING PROGRAM

The foundation matches contributions made by employees of First Interstate BancSystem to nonprofit organizations on a one-for-one basis.

LEADERSHIP GRANTS

The foundation supports programs recommended by local branch leadership to meet the needs of their prospective communities.

MINI BANKS

The foundation, in partnership with community schools and local First Interstate branches, promotes financial literacy and asset building in students, schools, families, and communities through student-operated savings banks. All students have their own savings account and each Mini Bank account earns 4% interest.

NEIGHBORS FEEDING NEIGHBORS

The foundation matches contributions made by employees and directors of First Interstate to nonprofit organizations that has established a food program during July, August, and September on a two-for-one basis.

VOLUNTEER MATCHING PROGRAM

The foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations with which employees of First Interstate BancSystem volunteers. The foundation awards $8 dollars for every hour donated, with a 20 hour minimum.
