Giving primarily for 1) voluntary hospitals and health centers, particularly those connected to universities and/or those with strong research and teaching programs, 2) social welfare programs that help strengthen communities, with emphasis on people who are elderly and disadvantaged, 3) children (especially for education and the arts), 4) programs that extend the benefit of the arts through established and meaningful educational programs, particularly for children, and 5) animal welfare and conservation, including educational programs for children from primary through secondary school. Funding also for an annual fellowship at a hospital for special surgery for research into auto immune diseases and rheumatology, as well as to a fellowship in clinical cardiology at a hospital’s cardiovascular institute, and to a food services program which brings meals to people who are homebound.
